Cathy Thacker Piano Studio

My name is Cathy Thacker, and here is a little bit about me and my business!

Who I Am

I received my Bachelor of Science in Education, cum laude, from Bob Jones University, Greenville, SC, in 1984. I studied classical piano with Joseph Dilley and Laurence Morton (Piano Department Head), and hymnplaying with Lance Flower. I have participated in church ministry in Ohio, Virginia, Texas, Illinois, and Georgia. Currently I am a church pianist at Killian Hill Baptist Church, Lilburn, where I play solos and regularly accompany the choir and various soloists and ensembles. I also enjoy accompanying band and orchestra kids for GMEA Solo & Ensemble and recitals. I am President of the Gwinnett Music Teachers Association, and have been active since joining in 2002. 

I made a presentation at the Georgia Music Teachers Association state conference in Augusta, GA, on November 5, 2010.  It is entitled "A Day in the Life of a Piano Teacher:  How Do You Solve This Problem?"

My Business

I have taught private piano lessons for over 17 years, both at home and in private academy settings. My piano studio is located in Snellville, GA, where I teach students of all ages. My philosophy is to reach each person at his/her level and develop the unique blend of talent that each one has. My goal is to enrich students' love for music as well as become the best pianists that they can be.
